Synapse-Life Science Connect invites you to our Lund kick-off event on 8th October from 17:00 to 19:00. Come along for inspiring talks about the life science ecosystem in Lund and beyond, as well as the chance to meet other students and professionals in the Lund area – and of course for fika! We look forward to seeing you there!
Keynote of the evening will be given by Founder and CEO of ImmuneBiotech AB, Shahram Lavasani. Shahram holds a Ph.D. degree from Lund University in Medical Inflammation Research. He is a skillful immunologist with many years of research expertise on gastrointestinal complications in autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases. Focusing on Brain-Gut axis he has pioneered research in multiple sclerosis (MS: brain inflammation) by targeting the gut using combination of probiotic bacteria. Shahram has collected new probiotic bacteria from innovative biological sources and developed the proprietary lactobacilli library and has solid know-how in the scientific selection methods (in vitro & in vivo) and combination of strains to achieve optimal therapeutic potential. He has designed ImmuneBiotech’s drug candidates by careful and multiple selection methods to identify potential strains and formulations for the optimal therapeutic management of the diseases.
ImmuneBiotech discovers and develops novel probiotics for therapeutic effect based on lactic acid bacteria and symbiotic formulations targeting gut microbiota and the immune system. We deliver transformational solutions to modulate the microbiome, heal leaky gut and reduce inflammation to prevent and treat autoimmune and other chronic inflammatory conditions.
Following the first talk, we will hear from the co-founder of VenomAid Diagnostics, Jonas A. Jürgensen. Jonas is finishing his Master’s in Molecular Biomedicine at the University of Copenhagen, where he has specialised in antibody discovery against toxins from medically relevant snakes. Using his expertise, he is now developing a diagnostic kit to quickly and accurately diagnose snake bites. VenomAid works internationally to build their product, with partners in Costa Rica, Brazil, and Canada. Therefore, the visibility of foreign universities has an important role for the company. Jonas will shine a light on being in an impact focused start-up.
