Synapse & Accelerace presents: NOME Start-up Competition

Do you like novel technologies, exciting science or smart business plans? Perhaps you have been wondering what is going on in the nordic startup life science environment but haven’t been able to get an overview?

On the 24th of October at the Mærsk Tower, ten of the most exciting upcoming biotech companies will pitch in front of a professional panel and you. A great opportunity to learn about the most promising technologies in emerging biotech companies and to be introduced to the teams behind these novel and innovative efforts. Synapse – Life Science Connect, Accelerace, NOME & The Novo Nordisk Foundation invites you to meet the future stars of the Danish biotech industry, when together we host the NOME Start-up Competition 2017

We invite every student, newly graduate and young professional to take part of this amazing evening. Throughout the afternoon, you can engage with the startups through multiple networking sessions – who knows, they might be looking for talented students and young professionals!

The competition will start with an initial round and take place in three different tracks: Biotech, Medtech and mHealth, each of which will present within the lecture halls in the Mærsk Tower. After a networking session the three best startups from the initial round will compete in the final round in front of an expert jury.

Furthermore, you will be able to meet Synapse and Accelerace partners as they will be present with stands.

The selected startups in the three different tracks are:

Biotech track:
– VenomAid Diagnostics (DK)
VenomAid presents a solution for rapid diagnosis of snakebite victims; a test which within few minutes of applying a blood sample tells you whether or not you were envenomed and if so by which snake. This facilitates rapid and correct treatment and reduces the risks of fatality and dismemberment.

– Draupnir Bio (DK)
Draupnir Bio has developed a platform for exploring the glycome to develop novel therapeutics. The platform is based on array technology, protein chemistry and advanced carbohydrate chemistry.

– Cellevate (SE)
Cellevate is developing the next generation of cell culture systems by creating highly porous and consistent networks of nanofibers through a patented manufacturing process.

– SBT Instruments (DK)
SBT Instruments aims to revolutionize the market for bacteria detection by introducing our patent-pending technology in a product which performs real-time detection of bacteria on surfaces and in liquids.

MedTech & Diagnostics
– Prediktor Medical (NO)
Prediktor Medical is developing a device, worn as a bracelet or watch to estimate glucose (blood sugar) levels noninvasively using principles such as advanced multivariate analysis and dynamic models for glucose/insulin interaction.

– Octlight (Denmark)
Octlight develops a swept light source technology that makes it possible to take full 3D OCT images of the eye. The OCT Swept Laser with higher imaging speed and range that will increase the ease and certainty in medical diagnostics.

– VoluSense (NO)
VoluSense develops mask-free systems for lung function evaluation. Their first product is for hospitalised infants.

– Monsenso (DK)
The Monsenso mHealth solution for mental health can help in the prevention, early intervention and treatment of mental or behavioural disorders. Their aim is to help individuals struggling with their mental health to feel better, faster.

– Peili Vision (FI)
Peili Vision’s solution uses gamification via VR in the rehabilitation process to motivate the customer to practice, and in the big picture the solution enables rehabilitation that can be scaled to thousands and tens of thousands of patients.

Magnus Björsne, CEO of the BioVentureHub and titled “Life Science Enabler of the year 2016” will share his insights on “How to use competencies to efficiently innovate in the life sciences”.
